The second biggest festival, Tihar has been started from Tuesday The festival is also known as Yama Panchak. One the first day of Yama Panchak, the crows are worshiped. The day is called Kaag Tihar. According to the Hindu religion, the crows are regarded as messenger of information. In the eternal time, the crows had played the role of messenger of the sister of Yamadutt. It is also believed that the sounds of crow forecasts for the pain and suffering. So on this occasion, the crows are given delicious foods as well as sweets. The festival is celebrated for 5 days as in the beginning of the day, the crows are worshipped, in the second day, the dogs are worshiped. The third day is dedicated to the cows and in the fourth day, Gobardhan puja is done. The last day is dedicated for the sisters and brothers. In the last day of Yama Panchak, the Bhai Tika is celebrated. It is somewhat bewildering to see by the tourists that crows are worshiped and given foods. But in the Hindu Mythology the crows are considered to be the messengers of information. In the same, the cowing of crows is taken as the symbol of grief and sadness. To minimize the sadness, people offer those sweets as well as various dishes on the roof of the houses.
